Archer beach trip 2011

Poppy and Grammie came to visit from Colorado. It was SUCH a great time. We celebrated fathers day and Ethan's birthday on the same day with a BBQ and fun. Nick and the kids came over to hang out as well. Kevin made some DELICIOUS smoked ribs for dinner..*drool*.  Ethan requested a "Penguin's Hockey Cake" since that is his favorite team. I wasn't so sure about that, but it came out pretty decent.

Then we headed to the beach for a few days. Is there a more perfect playground? All three boys had a blast boogie boarding and collecting treasures with their grandparents. Pictures coming soon...I don't have them on my phone.

And my heart soars

Ethans poem he wrote at school:

AND MY HEART SOARS

The calming of God
The cooling of the water,
The glowing of the stars
Speaks to me.

The music of birds,
The happiness of my family,
The call of the wild
Speaks to me

The quietness of fishing,
The protection of shepherds,
The whistling o the wind
Speaks to me

The softness of the clouds,
The ringing of the cross,
The splashing of the dolphins
They speak to me.

And my heart soars.

Skittles

It's another typical day. My 2 1/2 yr old just spilled all of the skittles from a zip lock bag into a pile of unfolded laundry. As I am watching him pick up the pieces with two very colorful, sticky hands-placing 1 out of every two or three into his drooling mouth I realized this image is quite a bit like my life. I sometimes feel as though I'm searching for the pieces, every once in a while those pieces will come together and create a beautiful rainbow. Other times I'm left with nothing but empty hands, drooling over the pieces that are being dropped, scattered, or crumbling before my eyes. One thing is for sure..I, just like my baby, am good at making sticky messes!

Busy day

Hubby headed to Utah to do some fishing a few days ago...so today is going to be another rushed Saturday. Started off with a bible study with the boys and now onto the business: Soccer, soccer pictures, hockey, and then our very last pack meeting for scouts. The boys are excited. Ethan is moving on to WEBELOS - with his eyes on Eagle scout I'm really hoping he continues with that goal. Dylan is even more so excited,  this will be the start of his scouting adventure as becomes a tiger scout. I am hoping to find some time to sneak in a trip to the ice cream shop.

An old hobby

One of my fondest memories as a child was my grandma Bollig teaching me to crochet. My first blanket I did went to my gramma Lena, and gramma Bollig spent weeks helping me with it. I really haven't made too many things since. This is my latest one...being made for a special woman that touched my heart with her kindness and peaceful spirit. Her baby is due in June so I'm feeling a bi rushed!! hope it turns out!
